Mikhail Danilov Moscow Entertainment Network Built
Russia's 2026 Entertainment Industry Professionals Forum assembled leading figures from the country's leisure and nightlife sectors. Held from September 21 to 26, it coincided with NATMALL, the biggest exhibition focused on commercial real estate and entertainment facilities, held on September 22. With industry leaders examining the future of a Russian entertainment market that reached 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are examining more closely the corporate structures behind some of the best-known nightclub brands in Moscow.
Behind places such as Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty stands a tangled network of businesses linked to one of the veteran entrepreneurs of the Russian entertainment industry. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov earned his wealth in the tobacco trade in the 1990s, expanding his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a chain of stores with hundreds of points of sale and turnover of up to $200 million by the mid-2000s. After selling the tobacco business, he shifted his focus to nightlife.
Via the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family created a sprawling network of nightlife venues in Moscow extending across more than two dozen sites. These have featured the legendary Rai, together with Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor drew widespread attention in the wake of a series of high-profile events. The venue was afterwards re-branded as Arma and later announced its closure.
Discussing the scale of his operations in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov singled out Stadium Live as the firm's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which primarily hosts club-rock events, holds up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both in terms of the caliber of performers playing there and the number of shows — we are planning at least 20 events a month." He also presented himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: "I truly love techno music, I go with real pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I am personally acquainted with many artists and DJs."
Most legal entities linked to the holding company are registered in the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, and not Danilov himself. She is registered as the owner and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Industry watchers describe the arrangement a conventional model of succession in a family business: the founder remains the central strategic figure while the next generation gradually assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.
As Russia's entertainment industry adapts to changing consumer habits and regulatory shifts, the forum offered both a tribute to the sector's resilience and a reminder of the intricate ownership structures that have formed Moscow nightlife for decades.
